W82387 - Runway Overrun Due to Flap Problem
Cargojet flight W82387 departed John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport (YHM) in Ontario at 01:00 local time on 19 November 2024 bound for Vancouver International Airport (YVR) under contract to Amazon Prime Air. En route the crew reported a flap control problem and declared a “PAN PAN” emergency to air traffic control. Because the flaps could not be fully deployed, the Boeing 767‑300ERF (registration C‑GAZI) prepared for a higher than normal approach speed. The aircraft touched down on runway 08L at Vancouver at about 03:10 local time. Despite maximum braking, it overran the paved surface at approximately 120 knots, struck the approach lights and travelled 1 250 feet beyond the runway end into soft ground. The nose gear collapsed but the fuselage remained intact. The three‑person crew and a jump‑seat occupant evacuated without injury. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) opened investigation A24P0128 to determine the cause of the flap malfunction and overruns.
