DY430 - Runway Overrun in Stormy Conditions
Norwegian Air Shuttle flight DY430 departed Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) bound for Molde Airport Årø (MOL) on 19 December 2024 with 159 passengers and six crew members. Upon landing at Molde during gusty winds and a slippery runway caused by heavy rain and strong crosswinds, the Boeing 737‑800 overshot the end of runway 24 and rolled onto the grass near the shoreline. Emergency services responded immediately, and passengers evacuated using the forward and aft doors and via stairs. No injuries were reported among the 165 occupants. The runway was closed for several hours for recovery operations. Norway’s Accident Investigation Board opened an investigation to examine factors such as braking action, runway condition and crew decision‑making.
