IBM Airlines Limited operated a Boeing 737‑200C freighter (registration 5Y‑CKD) on 3 May 2025 to Nyala Airport (UYL) in Sudan. The flight, reportedly carrying supplies and personnel for one of the warring factions in Darfur, was on final approach when it was struck by artillery fire from the ground. Witnesses stated that the aircraft exploded and crashed near the runway perimeter. The captain, Michael George Oluoch Nyamodi of Kenya, and first officer Samson Ohide of South Sudan perished along with all passengers and cargo handlers on board. Due to the conflict and limited access to the crash site, exact passenger counts vary; reports indicate around 20 occupants. No ground casualties were reported. Sudanese aviation authorities and international observers condemned the attack and opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shoot‑down.
