American Airlines Flight 37, operated by a Boeing 777-200 (registration N793AN), was en route from Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in June 2025 when the aircraft encountered severe turbulence at flight level 380 near Memphis, Tennessee. The unexpected severe turbulence resulted in injuries to two flight attendants who were reportedly thrown against the cabin ceiling during the incident. The flight crew maintained control of the aircraft and continued to the planned destination at DFW. Upon landing, medical personnel attended to the injured crew members. The aircraft was subsequently grounded for 20 hours for detailed structural and systems inspection before being returned to service. The FAA was notified of the turbulence encounter as per standard reporting procedures for incidents involving crew injuries.
