HO1607 - Ground Collision with Stair Car During Ground Operations
Juneyao Air Flight HO1607, operating a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (registration B-20D1), experienced a ground collision with a mobile stair car during ground operations at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL) on August 28, 2025. The incident occurred while the aircraft was taxiing or maneuvering on the airport apron when the leading edge of the aircraft's left wing tip struck a mobile stair car. The collision resulted in damage to the left wing of the aircraft but fortunately resulted in no injuries to passengers, crew members, or ground personnel. Emergency services were immediately alerted and responded with a large alert response to the incident location as a precautionary measure. Following the collision, the aircraft was grounded for thorough inspection and repairs to assess the extent of the wing damage. An investigation was initiated by Finnish aviation authorities to determine the exact circumstances that led to the ground collision between the aircraft and the ground support equipment. The incident highlights the ongoing challenges of ground operations safety at busy international airports where multiple pieces of ground support equipment operate in close proximity to aircraft during routine ground handling activities.
