WS2276 - Landing Gear Collapse on Landing
WestJet Flight WS2276 departed Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) bound for Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in Sint Maarten on 8 September 2025. The Boeing 737‑800 (registration C‑GWSR) carried 158 passengers and six crew members. During landing on runway 10 at Sint Maarten, the right main landing gear collapsed, causing the aircraft to settle onto its nose wheel, left main gear and right engine nacelle. The crew brought the aircraft to a stop and initiated an emergency evacuation. Slides were deployed on both sides of the fuselage. All occupants exited the aircraft; three passengers were taken to hospital for evaluation but no serious injuries were reported. Airport authorities closed the runway for several hours. The Sint Maarten Civil Aviation Authority and Canada’s Transportation Safety Board launched an investigation to determine whether maintenance or structural failure contributed to the collapse.
